Chess is often regarded as a recreational game played between two players. The game of chess can be classified as the western chess and international chess. The game was first discovered at Southern Europe during the fifteenth century. Presently chess is one of the popular games played all over the world. There are several games of chess that are held at clubs, online, sponsors, competition and organizers of the tournaments.
The game is usually played on a square shaped board made up of different materials like wood, glass, limestone or any other material. The board is patterned with alternative colors of black and white. Often the chess board has 64 squares with the dimensions of eight-by-eight length and breadth. At the beginning of the match, the players decide on who will go for black and white pieces. There is one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and eight pawns. Both the players play with one motive that is to checkmate the king on the opponent side. In this situation the king is under an
attack and there is no way that the opponent member can save his or her king from this threat.
While starting the game of chess the Rooks take the initiative by moving from the corners. The Knights or the horses as generally said by the players are next in movement to the Rooks. The Bishops follow the Knights. And lastly, the King and the queen follow them. The game begins when white makes the first move followed by the black pieces. The players take turns until the situation of “checkmate”. At this situation one of the players retraces back, or the match ends in a draw.
It is not that every match ends with a checkmate. Many players before they arrive at the situation of checkmate, choose to resign.

| If the opponents are equally capable the chess games often lead to draws. Draw is that situation when nobody is declared the winner. In most of the chess tournaments, draws are recorded as half and half,which means half points are marked for both the players.
