Pottery originated in the Neolithic Age in India. During that time handmade pottery mainly comprised of the different types of bowls, jars, vessels and much more. The Indus Valley and Harappan civilization introduced the wheel made pottery. The excavation at the sites of these ancient civilizations indicate that one of the most important traditions during that time was pottery making.
