Octave Mirbeau, the art critic was the first buyer of the painting created by the artist. When Octave bought the painting, he offered 300 francs for it.

The next time the painting was sold off, Irises managed to command an unbelievable price of 54 million Australian dollars. But Alan Bond who was supposed to pay the amount of 54 million Australian dollars, was not able to manage the required funds and the painting was sold off to a different person. This painting is the 7th most expensive painting in the world.
